are we all “homeless”?
one of the deepest fears inside of me goes something like this… “first i run out of money, then i become homeless, and then i die”. i have no fucking idea where that came from and if it’s even mine. i might have inherited it? i only know it’s a “program” that has been on autoplay for at least 5 decades and i was unaware of this program for most of the time.
ever heard the phrase, “home is where the heart is”? allegedly, this concept originated in the 1st century AD with the roman author “Pliny the Elder” where he wrote "Ubi bene, ibi patria" (Where one is well, there is one’s country”). fast forward to the 18th century where the first recorded occurrence showed up in the unsigned poem The Winter’s Wreath (1828…"’Tis Home where’er the heart is.").
moving right along… the etymology of homeless is… “having no permanent abode” (1610). now we run in to the Buddha and his nature… known for his position on impermanence… ie… nothing is permanent. see where this is headed??? we are all homeless AND home is where the heart is… no matter where you are located physically/geographically.
we are all “homeless” AND at the same time, we all have a “home” in our heart 💖💜🤍 🏡⛺️🛖
